Lord Sebastian’s Secret by Jane Ashford

I remember at one time loving historic romances, though I don’t read them often Lord Sebastian’s Secret did catch my eye.  Lord Sebastian hiding his difficulty in reading so that he is not thought to be dumb.  I really did enjoy Lord Sebastian’s Secret, which was gotten through Netgalley or an honest review.

My Review

It has been a while since I have really gotten into reading historical romances, but it is one of my challenges to myself this year.  So seeing this book available on Netgalley seemed like a sign to me.  Though this was the third book in The Duke’s Sons series.  (I found out after reading it.)  You really do not need to read the others before hand.

Though the center of this story is Sebastian and Georgina, the things other characters cause is even better.  My favorite is the younger sister who is after something of her own.  The house guest Mr. Mitra are just as interesting and causing of trouble.

Overall this was an OK of a book.  Not perfect but good none the less.  At times hard to read and very slow going but when something interesting happened it got good.

Question for Readers

Have you read the previous books in this series?  What are your favorite Historical Romances?

The Billionaire’s Christmas by JS Scott

I will admit The Billionaire’s Christmas by J.S. Scott has come up on my “Books you may like” list on Amazon many time over the last few years.  But it really made its way onto my TBR list when my mom bought Amazon Unlimited.

*Side note the Amazon Unlimited is on a family amazon account that everyone uses not just me*

My Review

Emily has made the biggest mistake of her career, dating the wrong guy.  Now said wrong guy has robbed The Youth Center she is the director of just in time for Christmas.  To fix her mistake Emily goes to The Beast, Grady Sinclair, to save the Youth Center’s Christmas Celebration.

This was my first Sinclair story, aswell as my first book by J.S. Scott but I have completely fallen in love.  The cuteness of the story is great and it ever has a little mystery mixed in with the search for the stolen money.  No the stolen money is not a main focus but it does give a good twist.  No the main story line is Grady wanting Emily to show him what is so good about Christmas.

Her Ruthless Russian by Leslie North

To Start off the new year and this blog, I started with the quick read Her Ruthless Russian by Leslie North. Her Ruthless Russian is the first book in Karev Brothers Series which I got as an ARC on Netgalley for an honest review.

My Review

Over all I really did like this book.  It had a good story line and a little mystery to keep you interested.  Though that is where I found my dislike “a little mystery”.  The background story-line of who killed Vlad’s father is interesting, who killed the mob boss and why.  Though I would love to know more, I also know it can be found in book two of the Karev Brothers.

The romance is good too.  Both are just using the other to get what they want and this leads to a great love.  They start with this love hat thing that is really good for the two of them.  Can true love be found when you are trying to get the other to give you the information you need?

Like I said overall I really did like this book but I also wish it was a little longer and go more in depth on who is out to kill them.  Will I be reading book two of the Karev Brothers? Yes.  Will it be soon? Maybe.  Am I looking forward to it?  YES.

Question for Readers

Do you have a favorite Mafia Bad Boy Romance book that you really like?  Let me know in the comments down below.  And let me know if you are going to be reading Her Ruthless Russian or adding it to your wish list?

About the Author

Leslie North is the pen name for a critically-acclaimed author of women’s contemporary romance and fiction. The anonymity gives her the perfect opportunity to paint with her full artistic palette, especially in the romance and erotic fantasy genres.

The truth of the matter is she loves her fictional persona, Leslie North, more than her normal, day-to-day persona! Her bestselling books focus on strong characters and particularly women who aren’t afraid to challenge an alpha male. Inspired after years of travel, her stories are set all over the world, from the tough streets of Russia to the beautiful beaches of the middle east.

Leslie fell in love with romance when she first picked up a scrappy, dog-eared romance book from her local library. She began writing soon after and the rest, as they say, was history. She now lives in a cozy cottage on the British coast and enjoys taking long walks with her two Dalmatians, George and Fergie.

Born into a Russian Mafia family, Vlad Karev is no stranger to violence…but this time it’s personal. Someone has murdered his father and Vlad can’t rest until he finds the killer. When the trail leads to an art gallery, Vlad wants to dig deeper, but he needs help from the owner’s daughter. The pretty redhead is far too innocent for a man like Vlad, but he’ll do what it takes to get the information he needs. His obligations are to the family, even if that means using the fiery woman.

Madison O’Connor works hard to keep her family’s gallery going, although secretly she has little interest in art. But when she discovers her father’s been laundering money for the Russian Mafia, she’ll do everything she can to keep him out of jail. She hates to lie, but she has a plan…seduce the Russian bad boy to learn the mob’s secrets. Never mind his dangerous exterior or icy blue eyes, Madison’s going to get her family free of the mob, even if she has to use Vlad Karev to do it.

As the killer gets closer, so do Vlad and Madison. But is their connection just the means to an end, or could their romance be real?
